Parking garage to go up first

The first structure to rise out of the site of the new Wishard will b ea 2,300-car parking garage, the construction of which is included in the initial construction bid packaged released in December.
The six-level, cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete structure will stand immediately adjacent to the new hospital and eventually will connect to the ambulatory care and administrative office buildings.

The garage has a square footage equal to 18 football fields, with a footprint of 240 feet by 609 feet. It will have three entries and be served by six elevators at three locations.
The garage will feature an open-air design including a light well through its core, which will utilize natural lighting and ventilation. It also features flat levels to accommodate individuals with mobility challenges.
