Art Proposals

A century ago, Wishard brought together local artists to install murals and paintings as an integral part of the hospital’s healing environment for its patients. Medical care has progressed dramatically since, as have studies correlating exposure to art and natural beauty with improved health outcomes.

Wishard’s commitment to caring for the whole person continues today, and Eskenazi Health’s art will evolve much as the delivery of quality care evolves in response to the changing needs of the community. Wishard plans to fund the art program for Eskenazi Health through philanthropy and is committed to creating an art program for Eskenazi Health that is as connected to the community as Wishard has been for more than 150 years.

Public comment for the second set of art proposals for Eskenazi Health ran from April 25 through May 6, 2011, and is now closed. Public comment for the first set of art proposals for Eskenazi Health ran from March 18 through April 1, 2011.

Wishard and Eskenazi Health’s art committee has selected the artists and works of art that will carry forward the art of healing in the new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Eskenazi Health, opening in December 2013.
