Efficiency

Eskenazi Health will be a model of efficiency similar to the current Wishard model of quality care at low cost.

The 1.2-million square foot complex will serve more patients in one-third less space than the current facilities, and it will use half the amount of energy with 12 percent lower operating costs.

Eskenazi Health’s layout will feature a central spine design to maximize maneuverability for patients and staff.

Once inside the new complex – including the hospital, ambulatory clinic, faculty and research building or emergency department – patients and visitors will be able to access any other part of the complex with no more than two turns.

Wishard also proactively planned for the new facilities at the new site to be prepared for future expansion, making Eskenazi Health poised to grow with the community for years to come.

Efficiency is standard at Wishard and Eskenazi Health.

Currently, one of the nation’s five largest safety net hospitals in outpatient visits is among the lowest cost health care systems in America, a fact reinforced by the Dartmouth Atlas.
